A 24 hour mountain bike race, in the middle of winter, in the far North of Scotland. Not only is there the threat of savage weather but at this time of year darkness descends for about 17hours on this event; a true test of the bike lights and a perfect test for the new Exposure Piggyback Battery systems. As it turned out, the weekend escaped rain and fresh snow but that did not make the tough new course any easier on the riders. The premier category of SOLO was won commandingly by James Leavesley racing for the new Ironhorse/Extreme team. This team is one of Exposure's new signings for 2008 so it was a great way to start the endurance season. Here's what James thought of his new lights:
"The lights were a revelation and I'm pleased to report that they ran faultlessly for the whole event. The guys in the pit tell me that the Exposure MaXx we were running coupled with their piggy-back battery made bike changes so much easier for them with no batteries to change or anything to keep track of. They just strapped them on and left them to run. I also used a Joystick MaXx on my helmet and the lack of cables made life a lot easier than in previous years."
Phil Hodgkiss (Earnest Press / Raasay Rumble ) was another winner using the new Exposure MaXx lights in the Solo Category with a win in the Single Speed Solo category and a commendable 9th overall in Solo.
" At one point, I thought it was never going to get light again but the new Enduro and Joystick & Piggybacks kept the trail in full view! 30 hours of solo pace light with a confident option for 12 hours on 'full beam'. I felt obliged to keep going."
Congratulations to our two Champions and to all the nutters that took part too.
