Ian Leitch (IF Racing) romps 2nd at Kona Old Pueblo 24hr
Newsflash - report just in from Ant White:
"The lights worked
brilliantly as usual , shame my eyes didn't hold up. I didn't wear any
glasses (in the desert ... doh!) and by 12 hours in my vision was toast
- I just couldn't see with all the crap in them & scratches, I
tried remedial action but it was too late so had to stop at c13 hours.
Been picking cactus thorns out of my body ever since.
Ian
& I were neck & neck and holding our own, the 2 guys in front
weren't pulling away as soon as it hit nightfall. For some reason
Tinkler didn't go out for the last lap (he did look pretty worn down)
and Ian pushed on well.
It was a great super fast course, we were knocking out the 16 miles
(mostly singletrack track through cacti) in just over an hour at the
beginning. We came through the first lap just 2 mins down on Tinker.
Ian did 18 laps in total - that's a alot of fast miles dodging cactus.
Imagine the very best of Thetford, with spikes!"
Thanks for the report Ant and trust the eyes get better soon.
With
over 3000 competitors and all the big hitters attending, Ian and
Anthony were each armed with two MaXx-D lights a Joystick and Triple
Piggyback battery to see them through the 12hrs or darkness in this
early calendar event.
