Bike Radar Live Report

It was a fabulous opening year for an eclectic cycling event displaying the best cycling talent alongside superb equipment testing facilities and retail stands.

The weekend was hosted at Donnington Race Circuit in glorious weather. A purpose built dual slalom, dirt jump course and enduro circuit led to superb riding.

Exposure Lights were the proud sponsors of the Whyte Night Enduro servicing the racers at track side and the spectators with food drinks and retro mountain biking movies. USE/Exposure sponsored riders; Steve Heading, Charlie Eustace, Irene Lachner, Matt Carr and Mike Wilkens all won their respective categories.

The racing was extremely hard fort across the disciplines. Mike wilkens and Matt Carr “couldn’t be separated” taking joint first in the single speed 12 hour race after an epic duel culminating in furious heart bursting dash across the finish line. Charlie Eustace and Irene Lachner lead from the front and came home to receive the glory in pure Podium Kiss style. While Steve Heading won the mens 12 hour in consummate style days after completing the gruelling 200 mile South Downs Double.

The Duel slalom was a real spectacle for those who stayed into the night to see the climax of the competition.  It was a nail biting shoulder to shoulder race with Gee Atherton pushing Brian Lopes into second place. Scott Beaumont narrowly missed qualifying for the final finishing 4th overall.

The Pro dirt jump competition was one of the loudest events of the weekend drawing in the crowds to the adrenaline fuelled spectacle. Sam Reynolds took the top step of the podium with a gravity defying run.

Jerone Walters and Emma Davies were the stars of the track winning in the Devil Takes the Hindmost circuit race, aptly named given the temperature!

Congratulations to all the riders and we look forward to even more competition next year.

Pulling all this together and having cycling celebraties such as Graeme Obree and Formular 1 star Mark Webber made the weekend a great success which will be eagerly anticipated next year.

Thanks to all those who were involved in the creation of this event, it was enjoyed by all and I’m glad that most of you made it for a drink and chat in the Exposure Lounge.
