Exposure Lights has built its global reputation designing high performance lighting for cyclists. Riders around the world trust the brand for powerful, reliable lights engineered and manufactured in Britain. But in recent years something unexpected has been happening. The same technology that transformed bicycle lighting is now finding its place across the wider powersports lighting market, from car rallying, adventure motorcycles, Dakar competitors and off road 4x4 vehicles.
The story began not in a boardroom but on rally stages in the British countryside. Exposure Lights owner Roger and his son Morgan compete in British rally events. As with all competitors, they needed better lighting for night stages. Rather than searching for a solution elsewhere, they began experimenting with their own bespoke LED rally lighting systems, using Exposure’s in house engineering expertise to create compact but incredibly powerful auxiliary lights.
Those early prototypes were built simply to help them compete on weekends. The lights had to be durable, lightweight and bright enough to handle high speeds, so seeing as far as possible was vital. Using the extensive knowledge gained from over 20 years of Exposure development they produced a setup that delivered outstanding illumination and reliability during demanding rally conditions.
It quickly became clear that the technology had potential beyond their own vehicle. Other teams noticed the performance and began asking about the lights, realising that at night the Sparrow team (Roger & Morgan) had an advantage. Soon the concept evolved into what is now known as the Exposure Lights AutoMoto range, designed specifically for the Automotive community.
Soon after the release of the EX2, EX4 and R3, the adventure motorcycle market began to take interest. It quickly became a natural home for the new lighting systems. Riders require dependable auxiliary motorcycle lighting that can perform in all environments. The compact design, high output LEDs and robust CNC machined housings make Exposure Lights ideal for adventure bike setups, where reliability and performance can make a real difference during night riding or remote expeditions.
The technology has since proven itself on an even bigger stage. Exposure Lights have supported riders competing in rally events, including successful two wheel participation in the Dakar Rally, one of the toughest endurance motorsport events in the world. In conditions where navigation, speed and performance are critical, powerful and reliable lighting becomes essential.
Today the Exposure AutoMoto range is continuing to expand beyond motorcycles and Rally cars. Off road drivers and overland explorers are beginning to use the lights, recognising the same advantages that cyclists have benefited from for over 20 years. What started as a personal project for British rallying has grown into a lighting solution reaching far beyond cycling, bringing Exposure’s British engineered LED technology to the wider powersports world.
