The Trace 4 delivers a scarcely believable 360 lumens from a 35g package, which makes it the easiest light in your life to actually remember. It lives in a jersey pocket, a rucksack lid, a saddlebag or clipped to the bars all week. USB-C charges it fully in 90 minutes. A tough CNC-machined aluminium body and an IP67 rating mean British winters are not its problem. Whether you commute through traffic or head out on faster roads at the weekend, the Trace 4 punches well above its weight.

Frequently asked questions
For the vast majority of riding, yes. 360 lumens is comfortably bright enough to make you stand out on lit urban streets and to light your way home on unlit lanes at sensible speeds.
The Trace 4 gives you three outputs to match the conditions: 160 lumens constant for steady road illumination after dark, the full 360-lumen DayBright pulse for daytime visibility, and a 206-lumen flash when you want maximum runtime.
If you regularly descend fast on unlit roads, or ride technical trails at night, you will want more output. Have a look at the full Exposure front light range for lights built for that.
Far less often than you are used to. Runtime depends on the mode you ride in:
Constant, up to 160 lumens: 3 hours
DayBright pulse, 360 lumens: 8 hours
Flash, 206 lumens: 40 hours
For a typical 30-minute commute each way, flash mode gives you weeks of riding between charges. When you do need to top up, charging is via USB-C and takes just 1.5 hours to full, on the same cable as your phone.
You will never be caught out either. A single press of the button shows your remaining charge on a bi-colour LED under the lens, so you know before you leave the house rather than halfway home.
Yes. The Trace 4 carries an IP67 rating, which means it is fully sealed against dust and can withstand complete immersion in water. Rain, road spray, slush and a hose down in February are all well within what it is built for.
The body is CNC-machined from 6063 aluminium rather than moulded plastic, so it also survives being dropped on tarmac and rattled around in a bag with your keys. Aluminium sheds heat better too, which protects the LED and battery over the long term.
This is a light designed to still be working several bikes from now.

Trace 4 Front light performs superbly!! Compact size, easy to remove and easy to interact with while riding.
The bracket for my TraceR fits perfectly! Thanks to Exposure team for the support before purchasing.
I lost my old TraceR rear light after making, what in hindsight, was a poorly made mount to go on my pannier rack. I was gutted for days after, as it was still going strong after years of daily commuting and many road rides! I looked at countless reviews and specs. of other light brands, hoping to try out some new exciting tech.
I eventually came back to Exposure, as something in my head kept saying "Don't compromise on quality, get the best!" I'm glad I did. The Trace front light will primarily live on the road bike and is a perfect balance of form and function without the need for a bigger light during the day. The TraceR 4 React rear light is also a fantastic balance of everything you could need. This rear light gives me confidence in any situation, especially commuting through busy traffic, daily, on my cross bike with a pannier rack. The additional side clip brackets are, great quality, strong and give me the mounting options that I need. The only slightly awkward quirk is having to pull down the rubber sleeve to charge the lights and then reposition it. Having said that, I have strangely enjoyed this quirk for many years on the previous generations. 😄
Great service from the team at EXPOSURE who quickly dispatched a Tracer 4 for my trip, much appreciated. Great little lamp for early starts and unlit alpine tunnels.
An excellent wee light. The mount proved rock solid over some pretty rough terrain on a recent bikepacking trip.
It was great to know that I had a really bright rear light for the road sections. The long battery life also meant I didn't have to worry about charging for the duration of the four day trip.
The usual exceptional quality from exposure.Small, light and powerful for daytime use.If your looking for all the traits mentioned this is the light to buy.
Brilliant little light made well with proper materials! The shape and size of the aluminium body is a thing of beauty. If it weren’t on my bike I’d put it on a shelf to look at. It’s very bright and the flash pattern stands out in traffic well. I have’nt used the beam in unlit areas yet so can’t comment on that, but it’s not really designed for that sort of use I guess. However, I’m fairly sure it will be a lot better than the crappy Chinese lights I was using previously. It’s a tiny, compact unit that you forget is even on your bars!!
Having done quite a bit of research on front lights, this one seemed to have the best reviews and it doesn’t disappoint. It fits nicely on my TT base bar ( I did also buy the fitting for my aero extensions, I haven’t needed to use it ) it’s compact and very bright
